About Iggy
I’m a cinematographer and lighting technician with nearly 20 years of experience working across film, television, commercial, and digital media. I started my career in the lighting department, building a strong foundation in grip and electric before moving into cinematography and web content. That hands-on background shapes how I work and how I teach—practical, efficient, and grounded in real production realities. I’ve worked on projects ranging from independent films to broadcast television and online platforms, collaborating closely with directors, producers, and crews at every scale. In recent years, I’ve also been deeply involved in YouTube and digital production, helping creators and teams develop content that balances strong visual standards with the demands of modern distribution and fast turnarounds. Alongside professional work, I teach and mentor emerging filmmakers, focusing on cinematography, lighting, and production workflows. My teaching emphasizes decision-making, problem-solving, and professional standards rather than abstract theory. (concealed information) (concealed information)

With nearly 20 years of experience in lighting and cinematography, I’ve built a career rooted in hands-on production across narrative, commercial, broadcast television, and digital media. I began working in the lighting department as a grip and electric before moving into cinematography and web content. That on-set, problem-solving background continues to shape my practical, efficiency-driven approach to image making. Teaching Approach & Knowledge Sharing: My approach as a tutor is grounded in real-world production experience. I don’t teach theory in isolation or idealized workflows that fall apart on set. Every concept is tied to practical decision-making: why something is done, when it matters, and what to do when conditions are less than perfect. The goal is to build students who can think clearly under pressure, not just recite terminology. Teaching Methodology & Techniques I use a problem-based, hands-on methodology. Lessons are structured around real production scenarios, common mistakes, and constraints students will actually face. I emphasize visual examples, gear breakdowns, lighting diagrams, and step-by-step reasoning. Students are encouraged to ask practical “what if” questions and to justify creative choices, not just copy setups. Typical Lesson Structure A typical lesson begins with a short concept overview, followed by analysis of real examples from film, television, or online content. We then move into a practical exercise—lighting a scene, planning coverage, or solving a production problem. The session ends with review, troubleshooting, and discussion of how the same approach scales from student projects to professional sets. What Sets Me Apart I teach from lived experience across cinematography, lighting, and modern digital production. I bridge traditional film education with current industry realities, including YouTube and fast-turnaround content. I focus on clarity, efficiency, and professional standards rather than academic abstraction. I have 2+ years of in-person teaching experience at an accredited Film School. Who the Lessons Are For My lessons are designed for film students at the diploma or degree level, and early-career filmmakers. Instruction can be tailored to beginners building fundamentals, or more intermediate students refining technique.
