My teaching is about the realities and practicalities of helping a person improve their singing and / or speaking voice; of listening to and respecting the individual; to help that person find the true possibilities for their voice.

I teach all styles of Singing and Speaking voice.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold the postgraduate Certificates of Advanced Studies in Vocal Training & Opera from the Guildhall School (LGSM; pg GSMD) as well as the Certificate in the Art of Teaching Singing from Thames Valley University.
- How much do you charge?
Hourly fee: £50.00
Reduced hourly rate for full-time students and under 18s (from age 12 upwards): £45.00
I factor in 15 minutes between every lesson. This time of 15 minutes is to allow for catch-up, booking the next lesson and payment so there is then always time for the full hour or half hour's lesson.
- Where do you teach?
I started The Voice Studio in Hertfordshire in 1995 and moved to Edinburgh in 2014 and opened Edinburgh Voice Studio.
In July 2015 I returned to live in Hertfordshire and am currently teaching from my own music rooms - Harley Voice Studio - in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
- When are you available?
Sessions may be booked Monday-Fridays: 9 am - 9 pm; (Wednesdays: 5 - 9 pm) and Saturdays: 9 am - 6 pm.
Students book and pay as they go - there is no requirement to pay in advance or to book a number of lessons. You may ask to have the same time or you may choose to arrange a different time for each lesson.
In-house training and group sessions can be facilitated for corporate clients.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I encourage singers from age 12 upwards - from beginners to professional performers - to explore their true vocal potential.
I accept singing and speaking voice students aged 12 years and upwards.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Specialist performance coaching for auditions, solo roles, music college / performing arts college entrance singing exams (all grades covered up to and including diploma level).
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Online coaching for speaking voice; and singing lessons for students who have had some face to face lessons.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I encourage everyone (from aged 12 upwards) to explore their true vocal potential. All welcome, from professional singers to those who just want to sing for fun.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have over 15 years performing experience worldwide and 25 years teaching experience. I am both an accomplished singer/soloist as well as a leading professional singing teacher and vocal coach.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scotland - this is the equivalent to DBS in England
- Where and with whom did you train?
My background and training is as a classical singer. I trained first in Glasgow and then spent four postgraduate years at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London specialising in solo performance. I have studied with EVTS (Estill Voice Training Systems) and with Vocal Consultant, Dr. Meribeth Bunch Dayme.
More recently, I attend (as an observer) the lessons and masterclasses of the American master voice teacher, David L Jones.

I am a member of the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians); the BVA (British Voice Association) and AOTOS (Association of the Teachers of Singing).
