About Sebastian
I began my musical journey at the Music School of Bonn in Germany, immersed in the European classical tradition. After moving to the UK, I studied under the late Peter Pettinger, whose expressive style deeply influenced my approach. My piano lineage stretches back through distinguished teachers all the way to Beethoven directly — connecting me to a rich tradition of classical performance and teaching. In 2000 I gained two Licentiate diplomas (LRSM) in piano performance and teaching from the Royal Schools of Music, and since then I’ve combined teaching with a career as a professional composer and producer. My music is used worldwide by clients such as the BBC, and I bring that same creative energy into my piano lessons. Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to the piano after a break, or an advanced pupil refining your repertoire, I offer lessons that are relaxed, personal, and designed around your goals. Teaching allows me to step away from the screen, return to the keys, and share what I love most: helping others discover the piano as a source of joy, expression, and confidence.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and take place either at my central Lewes studio or in your own home. My teaching combines a classical foundation with a flexible, student-led approach, drawing on years of professional experience as both a pianist and composer. I hold two LRSM diplomas in piano performance and teaching, and have taught everyone from complete beginners to advanced students preparing classical repertoire. I have even taught and trained piano teachers as part of their continuing professional development! So, whether you’re an adult learner starting from scratch, a returning pianist, or an advanced student looking to refine technique and expression, I adapt lessons to your pace, goals, and musical interests.
