About Lavanya
I am a postgraduate law student at the London School of Economics (LLM), having graduated from Durham University with a First Class Honours in Law — including a Distinction-level dissertation on the Compensation Principle in Family Law.
My approach is always tailored to the individual: I begin by identifying exactly where a student needs support, then work systematically through material at their pace, focusing on both conceptual understanding and exam technique.
What sets my teaching apart is genuine practical exposure to the law. Having worked as a Legal Adviser at the LSE Legal Advice Clinic, means I can help students not just understand legal rules, but see how they operate in practice while still having one leg in the world of academia.
Lessons are typically one hour and suitable for: IB students, undergraduate law students across core modules (contract, tort, family law, constitutional law, jurisprudence), and students preparing law personal statements or university applications.
Alongside my studies, I have worked with Education First to support English learning studies for students from all over the world.
Outside of law, I have a background in ballet, badminton, and visual art. I take real pride in helping students find their confidence look forward to meeting you.

Hi, my name is Lavanya, a postgraduate law student at the London School of Economics (LLM), having completed my undergraduate law degree at Durham University with a First Class Honours degree.
I am passionate about making law accessible whether that is breaking down complex legal concepts or helping with essay structures.
I have experience tutoring and mentoring through my time as President of the Durham University Bar Society, where I ran our mentorship programmes for aspiring law students. I also worked as a Legal Adviser at the LSE Legal Advice Clinic, giving me real hands-on experience applying legal knowledge practically.
I can tutor across a range of levels and subjects:
IB (including Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay support)
HL: English, Business and Art
Undergraduate Law modules (family, criminal and EU law in particular)
Personal statement and university application support for law
Having grown up across Dubai, Singapore and the UK and studied through the IB myself, I have a particular soft spot for IB students and know exactly what the programme demands.
My lessons can be tailored to you. Whether you need help understanding the fundamentals or want to push for the top grades, I can work with you at your pace.
