About Julie
I’m Julie, pleased to meet you. I’ve been playing music since I was in primary school. Started with recorder, then clarinet to grade 8 ABRSM, then saxophone to grade 8 too, I was in the Kent County Choir, and Kent County Youth Orchestra. I then went to study in Wales at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, during that time I played in the college big band, and a smaller gigging trad jazz band, as a resident band in a basement jazz club every Sunday for two years. Since then I’ve played all genres, over the years. Live music is one of the best experiences ever. I have lots of stories to tell, too many to write here, why not ask me as I teach you, I’ll make you laugh and cry, but most of all have great fun learning.

I really want anyone that I teach to not only enjoy their lessons but really look forward to them too. As your tutor, it is my job to ensure that you feel happy, relaxed, and comfortable during your lesson. I’m motivational and inspirational in my approach. I have 20+ years' experience of playing, tutoring, performing, across all genres, classical, jazz, pop. I have taught all ages and abilities with bespoke packages according to what you want to achieve. It’s never too late to learn, I have had some great success in recent years with teaching pupils who have retired and want a new hobby. Two of these ended up going on to study on jazz courses at college and loved it, playing in jazz bands, it became an integral part of their lives and was lovely to see the happiness and new dimension it brought to their lives. Why not start your special musical journey with me too, and who knows, dreams can come true.

I highly recommend Julie to any aspiring music student looking for a highly skilled, experienced and supportive teacher. I began having clarinet lessons during a difficult time in my life. Her friendly, outgoing personality and infectious positivity was just what was needed to motivate and encourage me. I achieved ABRSM grades 1 to 5 within three years of weekly tuition. Helen.
Julie is great at saxophone, her dexterity with saxophone is next to none! Each time I watch and listen to her play the instrument with so much passion and vibes, I can’t help but get on my feet dancing. I’m super excited she is playing at my summer festival in July this year.
I found Julie to be an excellent teacher. She is very enthusiastic and passionate. She she is very kind and patient and would highly recommend her.
