About Rowan
I am a passionate and dedicated flute tutor with 12+ years of teaching experience, working with students from school to college level and helping them grow in music with confidence. Music has always been a strong source of inspiration in my life, and I enjoy sharing that inspiration with my students.
Over the years, I have helped many learners progress from beginners to confident performers, which has been one of my greatest achievements. I have also guided students in preparing for performances and competitions, helping them overcome stage fear and express themselves freely.
My teaching style is simple, supportive, and adaptable, focusing on strong fundamentals such as breathing techniques, finger coordination, tone clarity, and rhythm understanding. I also encourage creativity and enjoyment in learning.
I take time to understand each student’s needs and tailor my lessons accordingly. My goal is to create a positive and motivating environment where students feel encouraged to learn, practise, and succeed.

I follow a student-centred teaching methodology based on Motivation, Communication, Integrity, and Creativity to help students learn flute effectively. My goal is to make learning simple, enjoyable, and confidence-building.
I begin by understanding the student’s level and goals so I can plan lessons that match their needs. I motivate students by setting clear goals and recognising their progress, which helps them stay encouraged.
Communication plays a key role in my teaching, as I explain breathing techniques, fingering, posture, and tone production in a simple and understandable way. With integrity, I focus on building strong fundamentals and guiding students honestly.
I correct mistakes patiently and ensure steady improvement. Creativity allows me to make lessons engaging by including songs, exercises, and interactive activities. Along with flute, I also teach music theory, rhythm, and ear training to support overall musical growth.
