About Martin
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been privately teaching guitar since I was 14 years old and also teach at the Manchester Guitar Academy. My ongoing performing career has given me many insights into the world of music that only experience can teach. I have great experience as a soloist and ensemble musician and have performed in notable venues such as The Bridgewater Hall Manchester, the RNCM Consort Hall, Lincoln, Killarney and Manchester Cathedrals. I also work within the community through the charitable organisations Live Music Now and Music in Hospitals and have performed for charities such as The Christie Charity Fund.

I trained at the RNCM with Craig Ogden and Gordon Crosskey
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I co-own and teach at the Manchester Guitar Academy. I am also a member of the ISM.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Currently I have a wide variety of students, ranging from 7 year old beginners to advanced conservatoire standard to hobbyist intermediates.

My aim is to encourage the natural enthusiasm in all my students, whatever their musical style or taste and to give my students the key musical skills needed for them to progress at their own pace.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach classical, electric (from rock to jazz) and acoustic guitar.
Students also receive music theory, composition, musicianship and ensemble skills within instrumental lessons, but can choose to do extra classes in these subjects.
I also teach the increasingly popular percussion instrument, the Cajon.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated with first-class honers from the RNCM in 2011. I also hold A-levels in Music, Music Tec. and Physics.
- How much do you charge?
I charge:
Instrumental hour lesson £25
Instrumental half hour lesson £14
Theory/comp/mus/ensemble hour lesson £20
Theory/comp/mus/ensemble half hour lesson £10
Group lessons fees are split between the students and are per hour £30 in total
I offer a student discount and a free consultation lesson. Travel is also negotable depending on times, but as a guide, 35p per mile.
