I'm a Masters student at Oxford, and I did my undergraduate here too, graduating with a First in History and German. I can teach all levels up to undergraduate. I have an open, flexible approach, engaging in discussions with my students, encouraging them to explain their knowledge and arguments to me.
I have four years of experience teaching piano and music theory and my pupils passed their grades with merits and distinctions. I also have a year of experience teaching English in Germany, where I ran small after-school study groups, helping those pupils who were struggling to pass their exams.

September 2014 – May 2015, English language teaching assistant in German secondary school: planned and delivered lessons independently and effectively, ensuring each lesson fit into a long-term teaching plan and encompassed key learning objectives from the state curriculum. Took initiative to start an English club and two after-school study groups. Maintained positive and productive relationships with the pupils, noticing real progression in students’ abilities as the year went on. Discovered which sorts of activities and tasks would be accessible, interesting and enriching for pupils of diverse academic abilities.
2010 – 2014, freelance piano and music theory teacher: Developed my ability to communicate skills and knowledge in manners tailored to individual pupils (ages 6-12). Work demanded good organisation, thorough preparation and ability to structure teaching clearly.
I've been studying alongside Tim for five years (as undergraduate students and then as graduate students). He is conscientious, hard-working and friendly, and has considerable experience working with young people - I am aware that he taught in a school for a year in Germany and also has experience running summer schools for international students here in Oxford, where he was very popular among both students and colleagues. I can't recommend him highly enough - any student would be lucky to have him as a tutor.
Tim's very good with people and is naturally very kind and friendly. He's very patient (I should know, not being the easiest housemate) and instinctively wants to get the best out of people. I'm a private tutor myself, and I think Tim is a great match for the role, he has experience working with young adults and kids and he's also the kind of person parents will trust quickly and rightfully. He has never let me down, he's very ethical, and he'll be great for the position.
