About Jan
I am a passionate historian and linguist, with a particular soft spot for the Medieval Mediterranean. I am keen to share my knowledge and experience, and to help students master the Latin language and understand its continued impact in languages and literature today.
Aside from the UK, I have lived in Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and the US.

My lessons include translation, grammar, and reading exercises, as well as discussions about the linguistic and historical context. All learning materials are provided.
Beginners are welcome - no previous knowledge needed. Advanced learners can also get lessons in reading and transcribing/translating historical Latin scripts (palaeography).
I have over 10 years experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Latin and Palaeography at Universities in the UK, Italy, and Belgium.
