My teaching method relies on you having the enthusiasm to draw all the time. I will help you to analyse you work and see where improvements can be made, whether that be for GCSE, A-Level or BA Level. In my own practise I have a strong focus on narrative and editorial illustration. I can help you in these areas as well as decorative, pattern design t-shirt design and many, many more.
My main aim is to arm you with the tools to be able to successfully analyse yours and others work. You will be able to look at an illustration and say why something is there and why an artists has done something in the way they have. This skills that will help you improve your own composition, use of text and image, colour palette and content.
I am currently studying an Illustration Masters degree, following the completion of my Illustration BA in 2018. I have a strong working knowledge of the industry and the skills to help develop your work technically and curate your portfolio. I have had extensive experience analysing and deconstructing illustration though out my illustration studentship and it is something I thoroughly enjoy.
I also have strong technical skills in; line work, printmaking, digital collage, mixed media and painting, meaning I will be able to advise and help out with most illustration styles. That being said, I have a strong belief that a style is gained through good practise and experimentation which is something I will encourage. Helping you to get to the next level.
My hope is that after my tutoring you will gain an understanding of the way illustration works technically as well as understanding your process and what the next steps are for a successful future wherever you want to be in the arts.
