Secondary Mathematics and Business teacher for 2 years. (Taught students ranging from 8th to 11th grade)
Private tutored mathematics for 2 years (Algebra 1, Geometry, College Algebra, and Calculus)
Academic strengths are in Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus, but I can tutor any secondary math class.
While in Texas, I was tutoring 8 high school students and 2 college students during the week and on the weekends. I can juggle many students at a time.
Success Stories with Private Tutoring:
- Algebra 1: I started tutoring a freshman in Algebra 1 who came to me with a 4% as her grade. After just one month, she was passing the class, after 2 months she had a solid B.
- College Algebra: One of my private tutoring student's sisters hired me to help her with College Algebra. She had a D in the class and needed a C to pass, we met for one session for 2-3 hours and she ended up getting an A on the final giving her a B in the class overall.
- College Algebra: I tutored one of my sister's friends who was taking college Algebra online. I tutored her from the start of the class, to the very end of the class and she received an 99% for the overall course grade.

My teaching methodology is centered around scaffolding and discourse, meaning, I teach starting from an easy rigor level, and slowly increasing the rigor level throughout. The ultimate goal is student independence. I help teach students so that after students do just a few practice problems together, I can gradually release the students to solve problems with minimum to no intervention or redirection. I use as many visuals in my teachings as I can. I strongly believe visuals are any students' best friend. I like to use technology when appropriate to help enhance learning. I can also teach students how to use a graphing calculator (TI-83/84) to assist them with their mathematical learning and studying.

Details
Distance travelled will make tutoring fees vary. Tutoring rates could vary from $40+ per hour. Sessions times can vary from one to two hour blocks.
Ideally, I would meet with students in a public location like Starbucks or Panera Bread (A place with internet access). My private tutoring services are flexible, I can re-teach concepts and topics, be a homework helper, provide extra practice, help students get ahead, etc. Just please let me know ahead of time what you need help with specifically so I may adequately prepare. I would like to honor the time you are paying for and not worry about wasting time. One hour in tutoring goes by VERY fast!!!
