About Judy
I’m currently a 4th year science student with a strong interest in teaching and communication. I also have a background in science communication, which has helped me learn how to explain things in a clear and simple way.
I’ve worked and volunteered with younger students, so I’m very comfortable being patient and adapting to different learning styles. I understand that every student learns differently, and I take the time to figure out what works best for each person.
I’ve also been in the position of needing extra help myself, so I understand how frustrating it can feel when something does not make sense the first time. That experience is a big reason why I choose to tutor and focus on making lessons supportive and low pressure.
In addition, I’ve worked as a peer mentor, which has helped me guide students not just academically, but also in building confidence and staying motivated.

I focus on making math feel simple and less overwhelming. A lot of students struggle not because they are not capable, but because the way it is explained in class does not always flow well. I break things down step by step in a way that actually makes sense.
In a typical lesson, I like to start by understanding what the student is currently learning and where they are getting stuck. From there, I explain the concept clearly, go through examples together, and then let them try on their own while I guide them. I make sure they are not just memorizing, but actually understanding what they are doing and why they are doing it.
I am very patient and easy to work with, especially with younger students who need a bit more support and structure. I adjust my teaching style depending on the student, whether they need more practice, more explanation, or just someone to help them stay on track.
My goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students feel more confident in math and less stressed when they see it.
I mainly work with students in Grades 1 to 8, and I am also happy to help with general homework support if needed.
I’m happy to offer a short 30 minute introductory session to see if it’s a good fit.
