About Celine
Hello! My name is Celine, and I am a passionate and experienced mathematics teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of helping hundreds of students develop confidence in mathematics, improve their grades, and discover that they are capable of far more than they thought possible.
I understand that many students find mathematics challenging or even intimidating. My goal is to make learning math enjoyable, achievable, and rewarding by explaining concepts in a clear and supportive way. I believe that every student can succeed when they are taught at their own pace and encouraged to ask questions in a safe and positive learning environment.
I love teaching because there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student experience that "lightbulb moment" when a concept finally makes sense. Watching students grow in confidence, overcome self-doubt, and achieve their goals is what inspires me every day.
Whether you need help catching up, preparing for exams, or aiming for top marks in NCEA or Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics, I am committed to helping you reach your full potential. I look forward to supporting you on your mathematical journey and helping you become a confident, independent learner.

I believe that every student can succeed in mathematics when concepts are explained clearly, learning is personalized, and confidence is built step by step. My teaching approach focuses on creating a supportive, encouraging environment where my students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes.
I begin by identifying each student's current level of understanding and any gaps in their knowledge. Lessons are then tailored to meet their individual needs, using clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice, and plenty of opportunities for independent problem-solving. I encourage students to explain their thinking, as this helps develop deeper understanding and lasting mathematical confidence.
I use a structured, scaffolded approach, breaking complex topics into manageable steps before gradually increasing the level of challenge. My lessons are interactive and engaging, incorporating real-life examples, visual representations, and exam-style questions to ensure students can confidently apply their knowledge in assessments.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although 45-minute sessions are available for younger students or those who benefit from shorter, more focused lessons. Longer revision sessions can also be arranged before examinations.
I am a fully qualified and registered secondary school mathematics teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience. I have taught students across Years 9–13 in New Zealand schools and have extensive experience teaching the New Zealand Curriculum, NCEA Mathematics, and Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics. Throughout my career I have supported students of all abilities, from those needing to strengthen their mathematical foundations to those aiming to achieve Excellence and top examination results.
My experience as both a classroom teacher and one-to-one tutor has enabled me to develop effective strategies for helping students overcome math anxiety, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals.
I provide online mathematics tuition for:
Year 7–10 students building confidence and strengthening core mathematical skills.
NCEA Level 1, 2, and 3 Mathematics students.
Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics students (Core and Extended).
Students preparing for internal and external examinations.
Adult learners wishing to improve their mathematical skills or return to study.
Whether a student is struggling with mathematics, wants to improve their grades, or is aiming for academic excellence, my goal is to help them become confident, independent learners who enjoy mathematics and believe in their own ability to succeed.
