About Ashley
I’m Ashley, I'm a 17 year old Mathematics student, recently had an interview with Cambridge University at Corpus Christi College for my application to do an undergraduates in Mathematics there. I sat my A-level maths a year early and achieved the highest grade you can get (A*). I have an avid enjoyment for mathematics, I plan to study Linear and Abstract Algebra, Complex and Real analysis, as well as Set and Number Theory. I have a broad range of GCSEs ranging from Drama and Philosphy to triple science, and I'm currently predicted an A*, A in Further Maths and Physics which would put my results as: A*, A*, A. In my free time I do a lot of mathematics to explore and familiarize myself with the fields and content, as well as producing my own resources for students to revise from and tasks that are personalized to each students ability, aimed to help practice the areas they find hardest in a clear and helpful way.

Mathematics is often an area where a lot of students struggle, however I do not think this is an issue of ability, I think all students are capable of achieving impressive grades, whether that be GCSE, A-Level or above. However, I feel there is a pressure that is put on young people which makes the subject unenjoyable or dull, and this weakens their interest and attention, which is why so many students struggle. I believe having a tutor who genuinely loves and is enthaustic about the subject is key for a child to succeed, especially one that the student can relate to in terms of age. I also provide resources, both physically and digitally for my students to use, each being specific for the students areas they struggle with in a formal, yet enjoyable format.
A lesson would normally be around 30 minutes to an hour. In this time, there will be 15-20 minutes of going over ideas, content and working through examples with the student to ensure they understand it. The next 20-30 minutes would be used to give the students their own questions to practice on, see where they struggle and help to pick apart the problem to notice patterns and ways to tackle similar problems in the future. The last 5 minutes will be used to listen to the student, so they can tell me what areas they struggled with, what they'd like to do next time and how they think the session went so that I can prepare new resources for our next session.

Perfect! It was a first lesson, and my son did enjoy his lesson, at the school he finds Maths lessons very boring. He is looking forward to next lesson.
Perfect! Ashley's warm, patient and attentive approach in our trial lesson made a great first impression with our family. His explanations were clear and concise, and he continually praised and encouraged throughout the session. Most importantly, that first lesson already made a difference! We're looking forward to Ashley's future lessons.
- Incredibly polite young student, very bright and talented at mathematics and I'm confident to say she can and will do great things in life. Her family are equally lovely, welcoming and warm. I look forward to our future lessons.Ashley's response :
