About Jeffrey
I have three children of my own, along with nine nieces and nephews, so I have had a lot of practice with kids that are just getting started in mathematics. Math has always just come easy to me and explaining multiple avenues to arrive at the same correct answer gives me insight into how a child learns best. Being a huge sports fan also allows me to pull in similar interests with kids and relate to real applications in baseball hitting or pitching statistics, for example. I like to liven up the material because... come on... it can be pretty dry.

Seeing the proverbial 'light bulb' go off in a student's mind when they genuinely understand something that has caused them great confusion or anxiety is my goal. Knowing why a mathematical principle exists is better than 'plugging and chugging' through formulas. I love to also prove answers solve the initial question to boost a student's confidence in their work. 4th grade to 10th grade kids would be the student groups I think I could work with the best.
