About Mike
I went into Maths teaching as a second career as I love my subject and helping people improve their skills in it. I have an infectious enthusiasm for Maths and like nothing more than to take a student from dreading Maths to excelling at it. And it’s always possible - there’s no such thing as ‘bad at Maths’, only gaps in knowledge and skills which I can help fill

I worked in the Maths department in my local Secondary School for over three years, helping year 10 and 11 Foundation level students achieve their best possible final GCSE grade. I focus on these three key points: 1: Improving the ease with which a student can use numbers 2: Identifying the key facts a student doesn't yet know 3: Improving a student’s exam technique to maximise the number of marks they get from their ‘workings-out’, which carry nearly 2/3s of the marks at GCSE I can tutor students at home or come to their home. Sessions are usually minimum 1 hour, but this can be tailored to a student’s needs
