About Michael
My background is in Civil Engineering and I particularly enjoy math as a subject. From my background, I have gained a solid understanding of how math is used in real-world situations. I've also tutored students in the past, so I know how to explain things clearly. I have recently finished my initial primary teacher training, which means I understand how kids learn and how to adapt my teaching to different needs. I believe that everyone can build skills and confidence in math with the right supports.

My tutoring approach starts by identifying learning gaps through a review of recent past work. I then activate prior knowledge and establish where they are at. Having established where my student is at, I can then start breaking down a concept into manageable steps to ensure understanding. I personalise lessons to build confidence and develop problem-solving skills, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and achieving success.
