About Sonia
I was born in Moscow, Russia, and moved to the U.S. in middle school. My passion for teaching started early when I began giving chess lessons to younger students. I became fascinated by the process of tailoring learning approaches to each individual, finding ways to make complex ideas click. Throughout high school, I tutored in a variety of subjects, from English to math and science. But it was in college that I truly understood the importance of building a toolbox for independent learning. With hectic schedules and the occasional overslept lecture, I often had to teach myself subjects that initially seemed impossible to grasp. That experience shaped my approach as a tutor—my goal isn’t just to help you understand today’s material but to equip you with the skills to learn anything on your own.

I have three years of tutoring experience, and my approach goes beyond just teaching a subject—I focus on equipping students with the skills to learn any subject effectively. I emphasize problem-solving, critical thinking, and study techniques that build confidence and long-term understanding. My lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s learning style, helping them break down complex topics, ask the right questions, and develop independent learning habits. Whether you need help with a specific subject or want to become a more efficient learner overall, I’m here to guide you.
