Hello I'm currently a final year med student. Before starting med school, I did an undergraduate in Medical genetics and graduated with a Distinction in my Masters in Molecular Medicine, coming top of my class.
After graduating from my undergrad and before starting my Masters I traveled to Angola to teach children with Special Educational Needs . Here I learnt how to adapt lessons to suit a wide range of learning styles and abilities and enjoying being immersed in and adapting to a very different culture and learning a new language.
The natural ability which I have to understand how people work and learn and the patience which allowed me to make good progress working with children with special needs, are what I apply to my tutoring styles in general.
I believe it is important to understand the individual I am working with first. Once we establish your individual working style, how best you assimilate information and your areas of weakness, we can work together to create and interactive lesson that is beneficial to you.
When it comes to proofreading and editing i like to work to any mark scheme or brief you have and work with you to make sure you achieve your objectives with the greatest success.
I started tutoring friends and my younger cousins when I was 16 and have always been one to spend time helping a friend to get to speed with the lessons or homework they were struggling with. My formal experience as teacher comes from teaching at the Special Needs Centre in Angola where I underwent training and eventually became lead teacher; being responsible for creating lesson plans for different age and ability groups as well as simultaneously teaching 3 children of wildly different abilities on a daily one-to-one basis. I was thus responsible for their full time education and school progress and am proud to say the progress made by the children under my care was commended by the Centre's Director.
Since then I have continued to tutor classmates on an informal basis, offering help with their essay/thesis writing, personal statements and getting a better grasp of lessons and have gone one to write for various blogs and websites and proofread and edit for numerous students and professionals.
My rates are negotiable as I work with the student and take into account different situations.

Etomby is my daughter and whilst this relationship may appear to some to make a recommendation biased; I can attest to the quality and depth of her educational background, which has been exemplary. A gifted "wordsmith", Etomby has been composing poetry from a very early age. Fluent in 2 languages, Etomby is a native English speaker and is someone that combines both a scientific background with a natural flair for Arts. With 2 (one at Masters level with distinction) medical/science based degrees under her belt, Etomby is on the cusp of graduating as a medical doctor. She is also a patient teacher and a joy to be around. I have no hesitation in recommendating her under the "Superprof" platform.

I am doing a degree as a mature student and I struggle a little with grammar and spelling etc, Etomby proof read all of my assignments and gave me amazing feedback giving me areas to work on. She was very patient and helpful and worked around my deadlines, I believe i wouldn't have done as well with my final grade if I didn't have her help and support.
We have been friends for a very long time, having met around 8 years ago whilst studying Medical Genetics. There is nobody whom I trust more. My family would say the same, having asked if she might like to housesit and petsit whilst they were away for almost a month. Over the years Etomby has always made time for me; be it to help by proof reading my coursework, discuss a scientific appraisal or be an ear to listen to the difficult times.
She is a very proactive person, always striving to ensure results that are not good but great. Not just academic results but also results towards a personal goal. This is something which she transfers to those around her, motivating, inspiring and encouraging others including myself to do the same.
Etomby has a real thirst for learning and curious mind that is rare to find which is what makes her an excellent tutor. Not only is she outgoing and easily approachable but she makes learning interesting and fun by finding creative ways to understand and remember things. She doesn't treat learning as a means to end as so many other tutors do, but rather an opportunity to understand the way things work.
