About Frances
Hello - I'm Frances and I'm excited for you to begin your singing journey!
Singing has brought so much joy to my life, and I teach because I’d love to help others experience that too. I enjoy helping people discover what their voices can do (it's always more than they think!), grow in confidence, and feel comfortable expressing themselves through music.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to singing, or hoping to develop your skills further, you’re very welcome. My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and shaped around you; with time to build healthy technique, explore music you enjoy, and have fun along the way!

I’m a professional mezzo-soprano and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, and have been singing for as long as I can remember! Alongside performing with organisations including Opera North, Glyndebourne, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, English National Opera and the Gabrieli Consort, I love sharing my passion for singing through teaching.
I welcome singers of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to experienced performers, and lessons last between 30-60 minutes, depending on your needs and budget. Whether you’re singing for fun, building confidence, preparing for an audition, or returning after a break, I tailor all sessions to your interests and goals.
My approach is relaxed and supportive, giving you space to explore your voice while developing healthy vocal technique, musicality, and expression. Drawing on my experience in opera, concerts, and recitals, I’ll help you progress at your own pace, keeping lessons enjoyable and engaging—with plenty of room for the simple joy of singing!
