About Charles
I never thought of coaching until the head coach at my club asked if I'd be interested as he'd seen me do some volunteering with the junior sessions on a Sunday Morning.
After I obtained my qualifications, I never looked back and was pleasantly surprised that people I had known for years were asking if I was available for coaching and it really grew from there. I have since taken on dozens of clients of ranging ages and skill levels and love watching them improve. I find it extremely rewarding to watch them in a competitive match adopting my tips and techniques and ultimately succeeding because of it.
I actively play Squash roughly four times a week as I am a big advocate that you should practice what you preach and I am passionate about both playing, coaching and promoting the game of squash.

My coaching sessions are typically broken down into four sections:
Weakness Identification: At the start of the session, we will either discuss known areas of weakness or identify them through a quick warm up game.
Technique Improvement: We will then move onto technique improvement to maximise consistency and gain understanding why we adopt certain techniques such as an open racquet face, approach to the ball etc.
Condition Game: We will then transition into a condition game where your new found skills will be focussed on and practiced in a pressured game scenario. Following this, a regular game will be played to finish off.
Lessons learnt: Generally, coaches try to fix too much at once. I prefer to focus in two or three key points of improvement. We will then discuss what these points are and what you can do in your own time to keep improving.
As a player, I am a Surrey and Middlesex Division 1 player for the past three years and captained my university BUCS team to an undefeated league season and a national semi-final berth.
I obtained my coaching qualification in early 2023 where I have since completed hundreds of hours of coaching across all skill levels and ages.
My qualifications include an enhanced DBS check and Safeguarding course and associated certificate.
