About Miriam
- What kind of experience do you have?
I've been working with pupils aged 4 up to 70 in both individual and group lesson settings for over six years. I'm currently a tutor with music services in Islington, Kensington & Chelsea and Tower Hamlets as well as teaching privately in London and Dublin.
Prior to relocating to London, I was a staff member at a number of Dublin-based music schools. I also worked as an assistant teacher at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin from 2014-2017. From absolute beginners to Diploma-level-standard, I've prepared my students for Grade exams and a few of them have successfully competed in local and national competitions. I also really enjoy working with adults who want to explore or revisit their passion for music.
Over the years I've also taught several of students with mental and physical disabilites.
As a founding member of the Westland Wind Quintet, I organised a series of workshops in schools and hospitals around Ireland, introducing children to the woodwind instrument family through a fun arrangement of the ever-popular 'Peter and the Wolf'. I have also been involved in numerous outreach concerts and events with the Ulster Orchestra.
I've performed across Ireland, UK, Europe, New York and China both solo and as a guest artist with ensembles such as the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Irish Baroque Orchestra, Crash Ensemble, Vanbrugh Quartet, Ensemble Marsyas and the Britten-Pears Orchestras. As soloist I've appeared with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Dublin Orchestral Players, the Irish Baroque Orchestra and the Esker Festival Orchestra, with numerous performances broadcast live on RTÉ lyric FM.
