About Jamie
I have an MMus degree in Composition from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and a BMus degree in Music from the University of Birmingham. My music has been played on BBC Radio 3, and I work as a professional piano accompanist for community choirs. I have been playing the piano for almost 20 years, and have a Grade 8 in Piano with Distinction from the ABRSM.
I love music education, as it has the potential to be empowering in all aspects of a student's life. I regularly lead primary school orchestral groups, and have worked as a composer-in-residence on a project supporting primary school children to write mini-operas based on their own stories, to be performed by professional opera singers.

My lessons are flexible to your goals and musical interests. I offer support through graded exams, grounding in music theory and piano technique and introduction to a wide range of new music. However, I always aim to tailor lessons to the student's individual musical goals, and keep lessons fun and relevant to the music that excites them. I am comfortable teaching absolute beginners up to Grade 8.
I can also support students in graded music theory exams, GCSE and A Level Music and composition.
