  • 1) Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

My older brother was the first person that introduced me to computers. He had bought a new laptop to use for school and all of his other class projects; sometimes he let us use it. Most times when we used the computer, we only played video games with it. This got me interested in how computers function, the process of creating video games, and the display of an image on a screen. As I continued to have a strong interest in these things, I began to develop a passion for all things in technology.
  • 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

I have seen the most significant change in computing to be how accessible and powerful technology is today. Many tools that demanded that you have advanced knowledge to use are now available to the general public. A significant turning point in technology's future will come as the use of artificial intelligence becomes increasingly common. With this level of growth, artificial intelligence will change how we learn about technology, create new technologies, and secure technology systems; however, this will also mean that we will continue to require a significant amount of human knowledge and understanding in order to assist in developing technology.
  • 3) Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

I am familiar with the areas of expertise in cyber security, digital forensics, programming, and IT systems. I am interested in these fields because they require the use of logic, research, and analytical abilities. To protect, analyze, and investigate digital systems has become vitally important for both schools and businesses due to the fact that there is so much of our lives dependent on digital systems today.
  • 4) Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

Steve Jobs is one of my biggest inspirations and has greatly influenced me as he created Apple products and built a strong design focus of user experience, fonts, and visual aesthetics for Apple's products. Other strong influences on me include Mark Zuckerberg, who created Facebook, and Elon Musk for all that he has done in many areas within technology. I admire all three of these individuals because they have created systems that have created new ways for some many people to engage with technology.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

When I was a student completing a network traffic analysis project for one of my lab requirements, I had a hard time determining what all the information was telling me. To overcome this problem, I chose to take some of the data I received and treat that piece as a standalone event, then analyze that piece until I was able to understand how it correlated to the data set as a whole. By doing this, I became successful in understanding the computer telephony system. This experience completely changed my thought process regarding problem solving for any technical problem. Today, I apply the same methodology to my students whenever I am teaching them.
  • 6) What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

I explain to my students that even though the material may seem overwhelming at first, it often becomes easy once you start to break things down into smaller sections. The majority of individuals struggle to comprehend technical material when they try to grasp all of the material at once and in its entirety. However, with adequate direction and repetition on behalf of those teaching the material, the individuals learning the material can develop a sound understanding and ability to utilize the basics to develop more advanced technical skills.
  • 7) What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

In addition to technology, my other interests include reading and doing research about computer graphics and video systems. I also enjoy listening to music and playing basketball; these are two good ways for me to unwind and maintain a healthy balance in my life.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in IT?

A major quality that I bring to the table is my ability to take complex technical topics and break them down into simpler terms, and guide my students through those subjects in a structured way that is both practical and helps them to truly understand the subject matter, rather than just memorizing it. When teaching my students, I am always very patient, and I strive to communicate with my students in a clear way that is appropriate for their current level, regardless of whether they are at a beginner level or are more advanced IT students who are tackling difficult projects.
