About Rachel
I am an Edinburgh-based playwright, theatremaker and dramaturg, as well as a producer and co-director of F-Bomb Theatre. I moved to Scotland to undertake Edinburgh Napier University's MFA Playwriting programme under the guidance of esteemed theatremakers such as May Sumbwanyambe, Mark Thomson, and Martin McCormick. My first play, "Hungerland", was completed during my studies and won the Bread and Roses Playwriting Award in 2019. My next play was "Afterparty", a comedy-drama centring on working-class teenage girls, which enjoyed a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2021. More recently, "The Beatles Were A Boyband," a timely exploration of women's safety and male violence, won a Scotsman Fringe First Award and the Sit Up Award for social impact. My creative ethos revolves around making complex themes accessible and engaging, often using comedy as a vehicle to connect with diverse and underserved audiences. I am also very passionate about access in the theatre industries, helping those without a privileged background to grow their skills and find their path.
