About the lesson
I believe learning is best when students have a sense of autonomy. My teaching style encourages students to take the reins and guide their learning, allowing for inspiration, intrigue, and motivation to flourish. My aim is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their own personal musical ambitions and goals. I understand that all students have their own unique learning style and my goal is to cater to this. Whether it be providing you with exercises to take home, or simply helping you navigate your way through the complexities of a song or piece of your choosing, I am able to assist you.
I believe that all music lessons, theory or instrumental, should provide students with new creative opportunities. Using knowledge and skills learnt in the lesson to create something is a fantastic way to solidify and contextualise new material and remain motivated to learn. Therefore, I will always encourage my students to remain creative and I will assist them to do so.
- Acoustic Guitar
- Bass guitar
I am a multi-instrumentalist specialising in guitar and bass. I have studied music academically since 2014 and have achieved a degree in songwriting from BIMM Bristol and hold a distinction in grade 8 acoustic guitar. I have been playing in live and recording bands for many years and have a good deal of experience in this area. I have had experience teaching guitar to adults and children, and music theory to my friends. I am looking to expand my tutoring and build on my experience as a professional tutor for guitar, bass, and music theory.
Robert's disciplined hard work and passion for music has allowed him to harvest a prolific musical career over the span of a few years. B.A. with honours in Songwriting and Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer of his project 'Verbals'. A particularly prolific instrumentalist, he's always willing to help friends out in their guitar learning processes, in a very down to earth and practical way. I'm always greatful for his simple yet crucial advices to improve one's approach to music interpretation.
Robert has been a friend and songwriting partner of mine for around 7 years, and his passion for playing guitar, along with the talent and knowledge that he has procured from years of academic studies, makes him an ideal guitar tutor for anyone who needs lessons. Aside from the musical ability, Robert is a kind and understanding individual who is always willing to listen to others, and determined to do any task the right way. I have continued to learn from him for 7 years and he still amazes me with his knowledge and ability, and I believe anyone learning guitar would benefit greatly from having Robert as their tutor.
Robert's the type of teacher who knows how to push you to progress greatly while still being the approachable and friendly person he is.
Very good lessons!
Rob is an excellent guitar teacher who not only clearly knows what he’s on about, but also is very good at giving easy to follow instructions.
His enthusiasm for the guitar has helped me to stay focused and keep improving in my own practise.
I would recommend Rob to anyone looking for a passionate and engaging Teacher!
