About April
I am a music graduate, receiving a first class music degree from King's College London, and a distinction class masters degree from SOAS, University of London. Having been practicing music for over 10 years, I have experience in mentoring and tutoring in musical spaces, such as choirs where I have led mentees to pass aural and theory tests. I will promote co-knowledge exchange with students through a curious and engaging learning environment, sharing my expertise in accessible ways.

My tutoring covers the ABRSM grades 1-5 music theory syllabi, with grade 5 being a pre-requisite for grade 6+ music performance exams, and A level music enrolment.
I will guide students through exercises, providing techniques to build confidence and independence in approaching music theory. I use a range of written and sonic resources to consolidate knowledge on music theory as long-term practical skills for music study and performance.
I also have experience in higher level music theory such as figured bass and chorale writing (ABRSM grade 6-8) which constitute the A level Music syllabus. My approach to teaching will provide fundamental building blocks for understanding more complex music theory tasks.
I will also provide tutoring for other components of GCSE, A level, and graded music performance exams including aural tests, music analysis, and music history.
My teaching will constantly harnesses curiosity within the student in order to build confidence and independence, ensuring that the student fully understands the content.
I offer a first 30-minute consultation/taster session for free.
I can teach online, or in person at the students' home or public space.
