About Neil
I am a composer, arranger and performer with more than 40 years' experience, as well as a teacher who has successfully taught hundreds of students. I seek to demystify music theory and composition and to impart practical skills and techniques rather than just arid academic knowledge.

I can teach Music Theory with or without specific reference to the Associated Board and Trinity Grades I-VIII. If you want to prepare for, say, Grade V Music Theory, I can help you, but if you just want to learn the rudiments and theory of music for your own purposes I can also help you. I can teach both classical composition and more popular styles, as well as orchestration and commercial arranging. I have studied music at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and have frequently performed in public as a guitarist, bass guitarist, double bassist and keyboard player. The lessons are for all ages, although it is unlikely that anyone under 11 will be motivated to study anything beyond the most basic theory.
