About Stephen
I am passionate about music and about learning. I have helped hundreds of students through to success over many years as a teacher. Anyone can learn anything, what is required for success is a supportive teacher to build confidence and determination in the student. As well as being a highly qualified music academic with a doctoral degree from the University of Edinburgh I am also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, which evidences my commitment to quality teaching.

I am currently a Professor of Music and I have taught music to people of all ages and abilities for many years. As an experienced teacher I believe in starting with discovering the interests and ambitions of my students and working with that as a foundation. I am very mindful that we all learn in very different ways - to that end I would suggest that regular lessons of 30 or 60 minutes are a good idea, each week or every other week.
