About Kate
I am a qualified Secondary School Music teacher, examiner and ex Head of Department. I have almost 30 years experience of instrumental teaching (piano/flute/euphonium) and singing lessons. I also tutor GCSE/ A-level music, music theory and composition. I am able to teach in person and online and I cover all ages ( I've taught from 6 year olds to 76!). I teach from beginners up to diploma level, although exams are by no means compulsory. I am also an examiner and moderator for two exam boards and I enjoy composing and arranging. I am frequently engaged as an accompanist for exams, competitions, shows etc.
I am quite full in the evenings but I now have daytime slots available.

As well aiding the student's musical development, it's my aim to make music making fun and enjoyable, and to instill a lifelong love of music. Lessons are tailored to the individual, drawing on their strengths and personality. I cover a variety of styles and genres (e.g. musical theatre, pop, classical) focusing on whatever interests the student and is best for their development. If the student wishes to sit exams I use ABRSM, Trinity and LCM, although many pupils play/sing for fun.
