About Gilbert
NYU Steinhardt gave me a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Technology that informs how I hear sound. You need a guide who understands blues progressions and complex electric technique while keeping things fun. My 10 years of teaching out of a New York studio means I have seen every struggle and success.
I guide you through acoustic technique or fingerpicking because I want you to feel comfortable with the instrument. My approach is simple because I learn songs, understand why they work, and build the technique to play them cleanly.

First sessions often start by checking your tuning and maintenance habits before we touch a single string. It takes exactly 10 minutes to identify exactly what you need to improve your improvisation and soloing.
We can run through grade exam prep or simple reading sheet music while chatting about why Hendrix or John Mayer sound that way. I keep the mood light and the hands moving. You will find that my studio discipline helps clear the clutter from your practice routine.
I ensure that your ear training develops through real song analysis. This way, the music stays enjoyable while you grow as a player.
