About Charles
Bonjour! I'm Charles, a native French speaker from France with a genuine passion for teaching. I hold the French Baccalauréat with Highest Honours and studied at Imperial College London, and I'm currently pursuing an MSc at UCL.
Over the years, I've taught French to students aged 6–16, helping them build confidence and achieve real progress, whether preparing for exams or learning from scratch.
One of the things I love most about tutoring is watching my students grow in confidence over time. There's nothing quite like the feeling of receiving a call from a student right after their exam, excitedly thanking me and sharing how well it went.
Those moments remind me why I do this: it's not just about grades, it's about helping people believe in their own ability to learn a new language.

My approach:
I focus on making French practical and enjoyable rather than just textbook-driven. Lessons combine structured grammar and vocabulary work with conversation practice, so you're not just memorising rules but actually using them. I adapt my methodology depending on your goals: for exam students, I work closely with the GCSE/A-Level syllabus and past papers; for beginners or conversational learners, I focus on building confidence through real-life scenarios, role-play, and listening exercises. I also use a mix of French media (songs, articles, short videos) to keep things engaging and immersive.
Lesson length:
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes, though I'm happy to offer 45-minute sessions for younger learners or 90-minute sessions for intensive exam preparation.
Qualifications & experience:
I'm a native French speaker from France, holding the French Baccalauréat with Highest Honours. I studied at Imperial College London and I'm currently completing an MSc at UCL. I've been tutoring French for several years, working with students aged 6–16 across a range of levels.
