About Manus
Irish is my first language and part of my daily life. I grew up speaking Irish at home, attended Irish-language schools, and achieved an A1 in both Junior and Leaving Cert Irish.
I specialise in helping adult learners and students build confidence in spoken Irish, improve comprehension, and engage more naturally with the language.

My teaching approach is centred on confidence, clarity, and real use of Irish, rather than rote learning or pressure. Every student comes with different goals, so lessons are always adapted to your level, interests, and reasons for learning the language.
A typical lesson will usually include:
- Active conversation at an appropriate level, to build confidence and fluency
- Targeted language input (grammar or vocabulary) explained clearly and in context
- Listening or reading practice, using real Irish where possible
- Practical exercises to help you use what you’ve learned naturally
For students preparing for Junior or Leaving Cert Irish, lessons can focus more on:
- Exam techniques and structure
- Past-paper practice and sample answers
- Improving comprehension, written Irish, and oral confidence
For adult learners, the emphasis is often on:
- Speaking comfortably and naturally
- Expanding everyday vocabulary
- Understanding Irish as it’s used in real life
- Exploring Irish culture through songs, stories, and poetry
Lessons typically last around one hour but are flexible depending on your needs. After each lesson, I provide notes, resources, or suggestions to help you continue practising between sessions.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and relaxed. The aim is that you leave each lesson with a clearer understanding of the language and greater confidence in using Irish.
