About Tanya

I’m passionate about helping you learn my native language and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from a university in China, and I previously worked in senior management before transitioning into teaching.

Over the past three years, I’ve taught more than 50 students and delivered over 680 lessons. My teaching is built on three core principles: simplicity, engagement, and practicality. I use a mix of videos, textbooks, and visual materials to make learning both effective and enjoyable.

I’ll guide you step by step—from the basics to more advanced topics—so you can build a strong and confident foundation in Chinese.

I’d love to understand your motivation for learning Chinese and what you hope to achieve. Based on your goals, I’ll tailor my teaching style to fit your needs.

My mission is simple: to make your Chinese learning journey enjoyable, empowering, and rewarding. I want to see you gain confidence, make real progress, and truly enjoy the process.

Perfect! Very very nice and extremely patient! Which is perfect for my needs. She adds in cultural lessons as well which really help me grasp the language. She came very prepared with textbooks and homework. She was funny and I learned so much already.

My grandmother is 89. I could say "hello" and "I love you" and that was it. Everything else was thirty years of nodding and smiling. I found Tanya thru a teaching platform and thought to give it a try... honestly, my goal wasn't fluency — it was one real conversation before I ran out of time. She built the entire first month around family vocabulary, the Shanghainese my grandma slips into, and the specific things I'd want to ask her. Last month I asked my grandmother about her childhood. In Mandarin. THAT moment I realized how much Mrs.Tanya had helped me & I would recommend her to anyone that's eager to learn & practice Mandarin. SHE'S THE TEACHER I LOVE!

I had a 400-day Duolingo streak and still couldn't order food for my family. Then I met Tanya through a colleague who had a great experience with Mrs.Tanya, and I demanded to know her secret!

Tanya doesn't teach you vocabulary lists. She teaches you sentences you'll actually say this week. My 3rd lesson I remember, she made me call a Chinese restaurant and order takeout. Terrifying. BUT It WORKED!!!! I got dumplings.

She's the kind of teacher who catches your tone mistake before you finish the word, but somehow makes it feel like a nudge, not a correction.

HIGHLY Recommend her to anyone who's tired of learning a language and wants to start speaking one.

Thanks to Tanya’s hard work and efforts, today I have acquired enough skills in reading and understanding the Chinese. Her teachings are very clear and easy to understand, most of the time it’s even entertaining when Mr Tanya teaches me Chinese culture while learning the pronunciation.
