My approach to teaching is flexible. I cater to the needs of the student as I believe it is extremely important to be receptive when it comes to teaching languages. I am sympathetic and reward progress as it is the most positive way to reinforce what has been learnt and makes the experience better for both the student and me.
I am a student at the University of Birmingham studying Philosophy and Political Science. I am originally from Mallorca, Spain and moved here 3 years ago. I worked in an international school in Thailand for a year teaching Spanish to primary and secondary students (GCSE and IB level).

Teacher Assistant, 08/2018-06/2019
As an Assistant Teacher, I was given various responsibilities and jobs that allowed me to expand on my professional and people skills. Working with students from the ages of 9 to 19 gives one a wide range of experiences within this field of work: communication, motivation, creativity, thinking on your feet, time management and positive feedback and reinforcement were all essential in my role as an Assistant Teacher. I can safely say that this role helped me develop a vast understanding of how to approach individual situations based on contextual facts to the best of my ability.
I specifically worked in the Languages Department, focussing on Spanish lessons and had both individual/private lessons as well as full classrooms where I would assist the class teacher. I loved my job as I am someone who thoroughly enjoys helping others learn, motivating them and finding solutions through critical thinking. I also love working with and speaking to people therefore social aspects within professional life are areas in which I tend to excel in and enjoy the most; although I am also very capable of working alone- as in my previous work I had to plan certain lessons in a timely manner and I believe I was successful because of my flexibility (concerning professional environments and skills) and creativity.
Boarding Staff, 08/2018-06/2019
As part of my multiple responsibilities within this school, twice a week and every third weekend I worked in the Boarding School. This would include work within the Boarding School as well as weekend trips to various places, such as waterparks or shopping malls.
This role was a great responsibility as I would have to be in charge of children of various age groups (from as young as 8 years old to 19). I learnt and expanded on my communication skills and time management in high pressured environments; however I especially learnt various leadership skills: the importance of mentoring and rewarding; empathy and friendliness; respect and confidentiality; and of honesty an open-mindedness. Both children and adults , however differently, appreciate and respond to these concepts. They are of huge importance when working with others.
Admissions Intern, 01/2019-06/2019
Within my time working at Regents International School, Pattaya, I was given the opportunity to work within the Marketing and Admissions Team. Here I was given many jobs that helped me learn more about these subjects and also allowed me to develop many skills such as: writing skills- through writing and publishing articles on the school's website* and writing advertising emails to prospective parents; knowledge on how to use different marketing databases and creative thinking through coming up with new ideas on how to market and sell the school.
