About Richard

I have lived most of my life in Brazil, but I also had several spells in England, mainly in my earlier years, where I did my O and A Levels in an English public school near Wales, and studied Social Studies at Liverpool Polytechnic. This academic formation enabled me to have great knowledge of the country and its customs, along with a passion for English History and Music, which I like to use in my lessons to give them a more interesting and personal touch. I like to prepare my students for the local customs, what they should or should not do to be well accepted and respected in their local community. I sell packages of lessons for students who need something more immediate or for those who need a more long term approach to grasp the language in their day to day environment.

About the lesson

To beginners the use of Grammar is indispensable so we start with the verb tenses and move on to the main aspects which help the student to understand the structures of the language, along with interesting facts about the history and the culture of the British Isles, along with its music and theatre attractions. I also teach more advanced students with Business English as an option, and recently even taught an American student a Cockney accent which he needed to perform in a play back in the USA, which was a very interesting and fun piece of work, and turned out to be well succeeded. I love rock music especially, but also music in general, which I also use in my lessons for students who have the same interest. My lessons last an hour but more than often we exceed that time when there is availability.

Richard taught me English during my whole high school and I can assure he is a complete professional, understand well the language and it's really easy to understand his lessons.
