My first lesson begins with the student and I discussing aims and objectives, as well as areas they wish to improve.
Each session will include an interactive Powerpoint which will be based on a pre-selected topic, viewable in the Google Classroom.
Supplementary materials will also be available for students to access between classes to enrich their learning. For example, recommended Spanish films and TV, cultural music as well as literature and news articles.
I am a bilingual speaker who has also studied the language at both A-Level and IGCSE.
I have a background in teaching oral expression as well as preparing students for national competitions such as the Foreign Language Spelling Bee.
As a university student, I have flexible hours and first-hand experience of the external language exams.
With both my fluency and experience combined, I feel that I can offer a unique insight and approach to tutoring.
Spanish Oral Assistant 2017: In the Summer of 2017 I completed work experience at a local grammar school, working with the Spanish department as the speaking assistant.
This role consisted of 1-1 spoken language sessions wherein students and I would complete an array of activities all geared towards their oral exam.
For example, vocabulary tests, conversational role-play and mock exams.
Spanish Club Volunteer 2017-2019: Throughout my time in the sixth form, I regularly attended the Spanish Club as a volunteer. I worked closely with Years 7-9 in addition to conversational practice with GCSE students. With the younger years we would discover new vocabulary and work on basic grammar via games and drama so as to keep sessions engaging and fun. I also prepared Year 7 students for national competitions such as the Foreign Language Spelling Bee by practising timed-trials as well as head to head competitions with peers.
Years 10 and 11 students would come to me for additional conversational practise in the run up to their oral exam for their IGCSE.
Spanish Prefect 2018-2019: In my final year of school I was appointed as the Spanish Prefect. The nature of this role meant that I worked with the Spanish department to help coordinate events such as options evenings, competitions and lunchtime/after-school clubs. Having previously worked with both the teachers and students, it was a smooth transition and a highly enjoyable experience.
Sarah has been my sons Spanish tutor for the last 6 months. He was a complete beginner, and nervous about starting another language from scratch. He is now confident and has attained basic level fluency. He enjoys his lesson, and her friendly approach to teaching. Would recommend her to any parent or new learner.
Sarah and I worked together as co-tutors for the same agency last year. She is not only a dedicated and hardworking tutor but is know for her patience and kindness. Pupils learn well with Sarah because she explains concepts clearly, and they have confidence that they can ask her any questions they may have. Sarah would be my number one choice for any beginner looking to learn Spanish!
Sarah has been helping me with his GCSE Spanish. Her patience and ability to vary pace and depth is really impressive and I have really enjoyed the extra opportunity to clarify some issues and understanding. An excellent tutor with a great teaching manner and always balanced feed back.
