About Jhonalene
Hello! My name is Jhonalene, and I am a native Filipino speaker from the Philippines with a degree in Psychology and experience in teaching and tutoring. I am passionate about helping students learn and improve their Tagalog skills in a supportive, comfortable, and encouraging environment.
I teach Tagalog to learners of all levels, from complete beginners to students who want to improve their conversational fluency and confidence. I also work with foreign learners who want to learn practical Tagalog for daily communication, travel, relationships, work, or cultural understanding.
My lessons are personalized based on each student’s goals, learning style, and current language level. I focus on practical communication, pronunciation, vocabulary building, sentence construction, and natural conversation to help students use Tagalog confidently in real-life situations.
As a tutor, I aim to create a positive and patient learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, practicing speaking, and making mistakes as part of the learning process. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching methods to make lessons engaging, effective, and easy to follow.
Outside teaching, I enjoy writing stories, reading books, and listening to music, which also helps me bring interesting conversations and cultural discussions into my lessons.

I use a student-centered and supportive approach to teaching Tagalog, focusing on helping learners communicate naturally and confidently in real-life situations. My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, learning pace, and current language level to create a comfortable and effective learning environment.
My teaching methods include conversational practice, vocabulary building, pronunciation guidance, sentence construction, listening activities, and practical everyday expressions. I focus on helping students use Tagalog naturally in daily conversations rather than relying only on memorization. I also encourage active participation during lessons to help students become more confident when speaking.
A typical lesson begins with a short assessment or conversation practice to understand the student’s current Tagalog level, strengths, and areas for improvement. I also discuss the student’s learning goals, whether they want to improve conversational Tagalog, understand Filipino culture, communicate with family and friends, travel in the Philippines, or learn the language from the beginning. Lessons may include guided conversations, vocabulary exercises, pronunciation practice, roleplay situations, reading activities, or sentence-building exercises depending on the student’s needs and level.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my patient, adaptable, and encouraging teaching style. As a Psychology graduate with teaching experience, I understand that every learner has different strengths, challenges, and learning preferences. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable practicing Tagalog and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
My lessons are suitable for learners of all levels, from complete beginners to intermediate students who want to improve their fluency and confidence.
