About Alyssa
I was born and raised in Vietnam, and Vietnamese is my first language. After moving to Canada with limited English, I successfully built fluency through discipline, structured learning, and immersive practice. That experience gave me firsthand insight into what truly works in language acquisition.
Over the years, I’ve developed a logical, results-driven approach grounded in both personal experience and an understanding of how the brain processes language. I am also currently learning Korean and Chinese, which keeps me actively engaged in refining effective learning strategies.
As a tutor, I am patient, organized, and intentional. I create a professional yet comfortable environment where students feel supported, motivated, and confident in their progress. My goal is not only to help you learn Vietnamese, but to help you develop lasting language skills with clarity and purpose.

I use a natural, immersive approach, we speak Vietnamese from the start. I help students become familiar with the language the way someone would if they were born in a Vietnamese-speaking environment. Instead of rigid memorization, I focus on real conversation, natural phrasing, and comfort with tones and rhythm.
I keep the atmosphere light and encouraging so students feel safe making mistakes. Confidence is key to language learning.
- Lesson Structure:
Lessons are conversation-centered and personalized.
1. If you know what you want to learn, we focus directly on that.
2. If you’re unsure, I assess your speaking, listening, and pronunciation to identify gaps and build from there.
Each lesson adapts to your pace and goals.
- What Sets Me Apart:
I moved to Canada knowing very little English, so I’ve personally experienced what it feels like to build a language from the ground up. Over the years, I developed my own structured, logical approach to language learning by observing what truly works, not just memorization, but pattern recognition, immersion, and consistent speaking practice.
Because I’ve gone through this process myself, I understand the struggles, the plateaus, and the breakthroughs. I’m currently learning Korean and Chinese as well, which keeps me actively engaged in the science of language acquisition. I genuinely love languages, both learning them and understanding how the brain processes them, and I bring that insight into every lesson.
