About Aidan
A little bit about me:
I am a Durham University student reading for a degree in Natural Sciences with a particular stress on Maths and Physics Tripos though also some Chemistry and Economics. I was formerly awarded Dux from own of the most prestigious schools in Scotland and took up various roles including Editor of the Literary Magazine and Deputy Head Boy which gave me an appreciation for clear communication and tutoring opportunities in a variety of fields.
Recently I have been elected Novice Captain at University, responsible for teaching 30 odd people how to row on the river Wear and have completed work experience at HM Treasury.
I would consider myself as a hard-working individual but also personable and approachable and I look forward to discussing science with you/your child!
Thanks for reading,
Aidan

A Natural Sciences undergrad who is passionate about Maths, Physics and Chemistry offering a personable and proactive approach for school students in these subjects.
My teaching philosophy may be best characterised in two priorities:
1. Advocating a constructivist approach toward learning by encouraging the student to actively engage with scientific material through solving problems, recognizing analytical tricks and patterns and ultimately deriving relationships and a real world understanding of foundational physical/mathematical concepts
2. Offering a bespoke experience to my students, evaluating where they may have had trouble in the past (recall, lateral thinking, lack of confidence etc.) and seeking to address the issue in enjoyable ways that are focused to these weaknesses. I would absolutely stress the importance of asking questions: they are the absolute key for a better understanding of the laws and patterns that govern our world!
Having tutored students previously, my ultimate aim is to work myself into redundancy: I hope to inspire my students with the knowledge and confidence to sit formal exams and take on the mantel as their own teachers who can independently and capably interpret science in everyday life.
