Newly finished A-level Student that studied, Philosophy, Politics and Biology. Have recieved University offers from Durham, Kings College London, Exeter, Bristol. A* level knowledge in both Philosophy

Methodology

Within the first few lessons I would really get to know my students strengths and weakness in order to tailor the following lesson and really maximise the potential for progress. I would then divide subject content into short notes/ booklets that are highly succinct and in caustic detail and precision. Meaning my student would only be learning and engaging with content that is labelled on their specification for their exams. And, through the lesson we would then go further into specific branches within topics that were of particular interest or skill of the student. The lessons would also include study and revision techniques so the student could continue working after the lessons and would help them perform in other subjects as well.

Background

I have tutored a two students as my Sixth form college as part of an after-school program within 30/45 minutes slots. I was recommended to take part into 'philosophy learning Café ' by head subject teacher and head of sixth form. I have never tutored completely independently but I can assure you I am a fast learn and become intensely dedicated to a project. I myself have had struggles with learning as I have dyslexia, which has meant that I have had to find inventive learning techniques to keep up with my fellow classmates. However, after hard-work and unshakable determination I have surpassed many of the classmates I aspired to be. My unique positions enables me to know first-hand the difficulties of higher learning as well as the skills and techniques to becoming an A* student and learner.

Theodore's CV

Personal Profile
A tenacious, hardworking, personable individual who relishes a challenge and a chance to prove himself. During my academic studies (despite dyslexia), I achieved far and beyond my expectations. Perhaps my greatest asset is defying not only the expectations of others but my own as well. I have been in position where I have had to address adversity and having to, at the toughest times, continue to believe that I could prevail. I have had to learn creative strategies that give me the ability to look at problems in a different way to others, enabling me to provide insightful solutions to complex problems. I have therefore become highly adaptable and can learn and can be relied upon to produce results in high pressure situations. I feel that my attention to detail, adept oral expression, creative thinking, and self-discipline as well as excellent customer service skills would prove valuable assets in any company. My referee background has given me the ability to maintain clarity and focus within pressurized situations and also to mange individuals. My leadership background through being part of school council and leadership groups has allowed me to see the ‘big picture’ as well as being able to apply high level precision and evaluative thinking to problems that require attention to detail. Moreover, during the summer of 2018 I was chosen to perform closing arguments for a mock trial at a UCL law internship. This role has made me a key member of a team and the built on my ability of being able to ask perceptive and insightful questions as well as be able to expertly grapple with the complexities and nuances of criminal Law. I have also in the process of applying for an investment apprenticeship at JP Morgan as well as earning a place on an Investment Banking internship in London this summer.

Responsible for greeting customers and shareholders, learning a complex distilling process and providing an array of high-quality cocktails. Acquiring time management and communication skills, as well as being part of a team and growing enterprise.
Football Referee | FA | September 2016- present.
I have been working as a FA referee for 3 years with all of my performances achieving a 90-100 score out of 100. The role requires an in-depth knowledge of FA rules and the ability to apply them calmly and effectively deliver in often high-pressure situations. I feel the role has developed my critical thinking, evaluative skills and self-control in stressful situations.

Other areas of experience:
Landscape Gardner; Football Coach; Customer Service assistant; Project management.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Student mentoring:
From volunteering for student mentoring I have gain so many invaluable skills. I have developed my listening skills, discerning not only the content of what the students are saying but also from their tone of voice. This has developed my ability to read people. I had to be patient with the individual allowing them to grow comfortable in my company before we could progress. Therefore, in that aspect I believe the process has developed my interpersonal skills. In addition, feel this role has helped me improve my evaluative skills and empathy: learning to tailor my own experience and advice to an individual.

Member of school council in year 11 to Year 13:
My fellow council members and I were responsible to be the voice of the student body, to improve the learning and social environment for them as a whole. Through this process, I gained valuable teamwork and public speaking skills, as well as debating skills. This involved: learning to explain my ideas in an articulate and convincing way. My role also involved drafting the constitution.

House Captain for Green House at Kingsbridge community College (year 11):
The role meant I was an ambassador for house, supporting them in school sports events, helping encourage less outgoing student to try sport as a way for finding something they liked and a way of expressing themselves. I feel the role enabled me to further develop my interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as speaking in front of large groups. This role has now made comfortable in addressing large audiences.

Debating society (year 12 and 13):
Being a member of the debating society helped me improve my strategic and build on my critical thinking skills. The role made me part of a team members and I would have to think of counter arguments to possible lines of questioning to the oppositions on specific subject matter.
