About Vish

Hi, I am Vish, trilingual (English, Hindi and Gujarati speaker) currently working as a Therapy Assistant with Allied Health Professionals in Adults Learning Disability Service within the NHS for 1+ year. I feel thrilled about helping people build their confidence and independence in any capacity.

I have graduated from University of London with an MSc Psychology and a BA in Literature and Psychology from Christ College, India. Additionally, I have worked as an Honorary Assistant Psychologist in a Psychiatric Hospital in India which shaped the importance of a person- centred approach.

I have worked as a Teaching Assistant within mainstream schools and special needs schools for 3+ years in the UK and India, where my passion for teaching grew. My interest lies in supporting them by putting their creativity and/or special interests to play, making the learning fun, engaging and natural.

In the UK, I have spent most of my academic time researching, volunteering and reading about Autism, Learning Disabilities and complex overlap of mental health issues amongst the population and their families.

I am currently in the process of obtaining Sensory Inclusion Facilitator Certificate which will help me recognise sensory processing differences and identify practical adaptations to tasks and environments. Our understanding of the world around us comes through our senses. We learn best when those senses are in our favor.

I cater to two types of population -

Children - We work our way through play based learning following their curiosity, answering mundane questions in exciting ways.

Adults - Support with administrative tasks, making presentations, managing appointments, record keeping etc.

What remains the core is encouraging communication in everyday life, independence to whatever capacity possible, and hence improving quality of life. I have come to understand that 'improved quality of life' is a very subjective concept, and so we work around what is important to you.

My sessions are structured to be entirely student-centred, strengths-based, and highly adaptive.

We begin with an initial online consultation to understand the individual needs, interests, strengths, and the areas you would like the support for. We will also discuss practical arrangements such as session length, location, and availability.

A few initial sessions are rapport building sessions - we may do art / pottery / talk about their special interests / share new things from the week - basically find our rhythm.

Post that, I provide a choice board ( visual / written ) and we pick activities as we go. Or, if it does not require prior research on the topic / preparation we simply pick it up on the day and go with it.

( Please note - Free 30 mins are allocated to online consultation. If offline, it will be treated as a class )
