About Joel
Recently finished my Secondary PGCE course with a merit and a 1 in teaching standards (essentially I passed highly in both teaching theory and practicals). I have tutored only a couple of students privately in the past, both year 7. Both showed a marked improvement in spelling and reading comprehension.
I have also had the opportunity to teach in Kenya recently, which was an amazing experience. This has also allowed me to create a variety of effective teaching strategies for students of varying levels of English, be it as a 1st or 2nd language.

I try to make each lesson as engaging as possible. In the classroom, this would be via a range of different tasks that would motivate and stimulate. In one-to-one tutoring, I would seek to create lessons around a topic that the student is interested in. For example, if they are into their rugby I may ask them to review a certain brand of sport shoes.
I like to be able to joke with my students, but am also very firm and set very high expectations from my students.
