The type of Arabic I teach is Modern Standard Arabic, known as MSA. MSA is widely understood all over the Arab world, as it is used in all media outlets, from TV to newspapers to radio. Almost all Arabic books and other written material are in MSA.
I use a communicative teaching style, which means I don't focus on translation, instead I interact with my students in a way that allows them to experiment and try out the language themselves. The student does a lot of talking and gets to practice the language through different tasks and activities.
