Methodology

My teaching method is tailored to each specific student. For beginner brass students I recommend a trial lesson where I provide a range of different instruments to trial to find the instrument that suites you. My lessons also focus on building constructive and ordered home practise routines. Brass instruments require the building and control of certain muscles, and the fastest way to progress is by building up a manageable and fun routine to perform in your own time. This will be based on your musical interests and we will work systematically through two starter books building towards grade 1.

Experience

As a teacher I believe in a fun and engaging approach tailored to the individual wishing to start lessons. I always recommend a trial lesson to make sure that there is a good teacher and student dynamic. As a teacher I have experience teaching across the UK as a workshop consultant and as a specialist brass tutor. From a performing side - I have toured the world with the pop band Twisted Tubes and regularly perform with most of the UK's premiere professional orchestras.
