Price : £500.00 - Place : ThetfordDoes your child have an interest in computers, such as how computers work or how computer games are made? This foundation course in computer science is specifically designed for students in key stage 3, teaching them key concepts and procedures which can be used towards learning other programming languages in the future. Using a student made and free programming language called Turing, students learn about variables, conditions, loops, making diagrams using code, and other programming features which are still used in languages such as C++, Java, Python and Javascript today. This course gives them an early start in coding 'literacy', building confidence in their ability to approach programming languages, as well as providing much practice in a variety of mathematical skills.

Course setup

I've been providing lessons in computing and mathematics for over five years, both in the United Kingdom, as well as in Canada. Increasingly I've been seeing the importance of how buildinging foundation skills early in life greatly increases a student's confidence to approach more challenging learning goals in the future, such as programming languages. With that in mind, I've created this new training course in computer science with the hope that more children will take an interest in careers which require being comfortable with numeracy and how computers work.

If you believe your son or daughter requires more confidence in mathematics before trying a computer science course, please consider my 10 lesson Algebra Foundation course.
