I have a BSc (Mathematics and Physics) degree from the University of South Africa.
Eight years ago I took early retirement from an engineering career in South Africa and immigrated with my wife to France.
I use the BBC website and a graphics tablet. I try to make the lessons more interesting by drawing on my engineering background.
Throughout their schooling, I helped our son and daughter with their Maths and Science in which they both excelled and they are now successful professions working and living in London.
For the last few years, I’ve been giving one-to-one Maths and Physics lessons to the son of a local UK expatriate family. Initially the lessons were at Key stage 3 level and now they are at GCSE level. I’ve been commended by both him and his mother.
Robert is my father. From a very young age he has supported and encouraged me with my schoolwork. He particularly helped me with maths and science. Robert is very patient and systematic with teaching. I did well at school and went on to obtain a scholarship to study medicine. I am sure that my dad's help was instrumental in obtaining good grades in maths and science. I currently practice Obstetrics and Gynaecology in London.
He is very patient and thorough, and is my father hence very trustworthy
For the last couple of years Robert has been privately tutoring my son Max who is nearly 15 years old now. He has been helping him gain good knowledge in both Maths and Physics Key Stage 3, GCSE . Max is HomeSchooled so this tuition has been vital for his educational needs.
Max enjoys this one to one time with Robert and finds him very patient and helpful. If Max does not understand something then he can freely say and then discuss and go over it again until Max completely understands.
A view about Robert as the pupils mother is that Robert has a soft way and confidence about him. He gives you the feeling that a 'professor' would at university and you can trust him to make sense of your studies.
It has been a pleasure having Robert teach our son, he has inspired Max to want to know more about science. He will go to college next year having gained a greater understanding of both Maths and Physics.
I thoroughly recommend anyone thinking of using this service to appoint Robert as your tutor.
