I have a degree in BA (Hons) Popular Music and Recording.
I am secondary school trained (PGCE Secondary Music) with AS/A-level teaching experience. I have examined/moderated AS-level performances for exam boards.
I am a qualified secondary music teacher, specialising in piano.
I passed Grade 5 theory in the 90s, many years ago!
30-minute lessons are standard.
I have a friendly approach and can spend time ensuring that the theory of music is understood.
Due to my teaching commitments I have an Enhanced DBS check and I am registered with the Education Workforce Council.
I regularly perform and work professionally.

Starting with the basics at Grade 1 and progressing through to Grade 5 takes time and a thorough understanding of musical concepts. With greater understanding will come more awareness of the composers' intentions and more nuanced performances.
Note lengths, scales, time signatures all covered. Struggling with time signatures? Want to know the difference between 3/4 and 6/8? Want to know the difference between an Augmented 4th and a Diminished 5th? Look no further ! All from the comfort of your home. A good work surface/table is required. Quiet time and a pencil. Maybe some music manuscript as well ! Get writing...
