About Joel
Hi there! Thanks for visiting my profile. I am a Swedish native and I have spent the last four years at the University of St Andrews, one of the UK's finest universities, where I received a first class degree in economics. I love to teach, and I can help you with academic topics as well as with applications for universities or jobs - I love to edit CVs and proofread cover letters!
My background:
Before university, I attended the IB Diploma Programme and was awarded 41/45 points. My subjects in the IB were: Physics HL, Chemistry HL, Spanish B HL, History SL, English SL, Maths SL. At university, I also completed a highly competitive internship with a bulge bracket bank in Canary Wharf, London.
Classes:
For academic purposes, I offer classes in the following topics: economics, high school maths, English, Swedish and high school Spanish.
Outside academia, I can help you with applications, interview prep, editing CVs and proofreading cover letters.
Experience:
I did 1-1 Spanish tutoring during high school and I have spent considerable time helping fellow colleagues editing CVs and perfecting cover letters to make them more likely to succeed in their pursuits. During exam periods I often arranged study groups to help myself and others prepare effectively. I have also volunteered with teaching sports to kids as part of a programme that I created for my university sports club.

I will attempt to adapt my teaching style to suit your needs as best I can, but my fundamental teaching method relies on using concrete examples to teach and evaluate your development. For example, I will try to relate complicated concepts in maths and economics to real life situations. This includes creating a story around the subject matter that will help you remember the important items of your syllabus.
For maths and economics, I will use exam and practice questions to cover a lot of ground in the syllabus in a short amount of time. If you require language tutoring (English, Swedish or Spanish), I will provide you with vocabulary lists and reading lists that will help you develop your skills. For these classes, I am willing to offer a free consultation to see whether we would be a good fit for each other, and to be able to design your lessons.
If you are looking for help with CV or cover letter editing, I will require your materials to read before our first session. There will be no free consultation session for CV and cover letter editing. Please note I will not write any materials for you from scratch. I am very happy to brainstorm ideas, make suggestions, and edit your writing several times over.
