About Marilina
I have worked as an ESOL teacher in various highly established teaching institutions around London for several years. I have gained and adapted a vast portfolio within this area covering; Skills for Life which is the governmental national strategy to improve adult literacy, ESOL and numeracy by raising student standards. Therefore, ESOL (also draws on material from EFLEAL – ESL – ELT post 16) is aimed at teaching English to people whose first language is not English. I have also been a teacher trainer working along side Columba University to improve the EFL lessons and classroom management within large teaching seminars.

One of the most effective ways I taught my students was to develop and present comprehensible and stimulating lessons and plans that facilitate all learning styles. I researched, located and incorporated a variety of resources to accommodate students via visual, audio, kinaesthetic and engage their motor functions to provide diverse and interesting lessons to suit all learning styles.
As well as maintaining, differentiating work sheets, PowerPoint lessons and created videos to suit the varying spiky profiles and differentiating levels found within the classroom. In addition, I integrated literature, writer’s workshop, phonetic activities and incorporated and adapted many work sheets from; Skills for Life, Headway, PET/KET, Cutting Edge, and Cambridge handbooks. I also created worksheets and assessment tests using google forms. My goal is always to foster and maintain an open, supportive, communicative, hardworking and focused classroom where each student feels safe, secure, special and enjoys appropriately challenging material. Other duties have included diagnostic and summative assessments, schemes of work, Individual Learning Plans to record and promote optimal learning.
